Sheriff’s report

Following are excerpts of daily activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:

Thursday, Sept. 10: At 2:51 pm a deputy picked up three dogs that were running at large in the 500 block of D Ave in Cedar Township. At 4:10 pm a deputy and Jefferson Fire Department responded to a tractor fire on 315th St near R Ave in Franklin Township. The tractor had minor damage. At 8:08 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in  Churdan.

Wednesday, Sept. 9: At 8:17 pm Dale Spaulding, 58, of Scranton was booked into the jail on charges of  trespass and theft- fifth degree*.  At 10:13 pm Roger Ketchum, 38, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for an out of county arrest warrant*.

Tuesday, Sept. 8: At 9:57 am a deputy, Grand Junction Rescue, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a single-vehicle accident, location not provided. Eric Chrystal of Jefferson lost control of an Arctic Cat UTV rolling it onto its side. The driver was transported to the Greene County Medica Center with suspected injuries. Chrystal was cited for no financial liability with accident, operating a UTV without a slow-moving vehicle sign, and operating an unsafe vehicle. The estimated damage to the UTV was $4,000. At 11:32 am a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order in Scranton. At 7:58 pm a deputy and Grand Junction Fire responded to a reported vehicle fire on U Ave near 230th St at Grand Junction. The vehicle was not on fire.  At 9:20 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment near U Avenue and 290th St in Washington Township. At 11:09 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Churdan.

Monday, Sept. 7: At 12:09 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 600 block of Brentwood Ave in Cedar Township. At 7:04 am a deputy investigated a missing child in Grand Junction. The child was located. At 3:51 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a vicious dog in Scranton. At 9:47 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a burglary investigation in the 700 block of Wild Rose Drive. At 11:07 pm Jose Rivera, 56, of Florida was booked into the jail on charges of operating while intoxicated and theft- third degree*.

Sunday Sept. 6: At 2:14 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog running at large  near Hwy 30 and Forest Ave east of Scranton. At 12:30 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 near B Ave west of Scranton. At 5:26 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in Grand Junction. At 10:11 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 600 block of Brentwood Ave in Highland Township.

Saturday, Sept. 5: At 6:59 am a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in Grand Junction. At 10:43 am a deputy investigated a scam in  Churdan. At 1:12 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St in Jefferson. At 8:05 pm a deputy investigated an open 911 call near Hwy 4 and 150th St north of Jefferson.

Friday, Sept. 4: At 7:44 am a deputy investigated an open 911 call in the 2100 block of Hwy 30 St. At 8:36 am Donald Reidnauer, 49, no home, was booked into the jail on a charge of harassment- third degree*. At 4:11 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of 330th St in Junction Township. At 5:55 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in Grand Junction.

Thursday, Sept. 3: At 7:51 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident in the 400 block of Cartwright St in Rippey. Melissa Wallace was stopped and trying to clean her front window. The 2012 Ford Edge rolled backwards and struck a John Deere skid steer, causing an estimated $5,000 damage to the car. The skid steer had no damage. At 8:56 am a deputy investigated an assault in Grand Junction. At 3:16 pm Travis Heinz, 33, of Des Moines was booked into the jail for violation of probation*.

Wednesday, Sept. 2: At 8 am Thomas Peterson, 65, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense*. At 9:26 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Churdan.

Tuesday, Sept. 1: At 6:31 am a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction Fire and Rescue responded to a single-vehicle car-deer accident in the 1000 block of Hwy 144 north of Grand Junction. Aubrianna Bixby of Altoona struck a deer with a 2018 Jeep Renegade, causing an estimated $1,500 damage to the vehicle. At 7:09 am the Greene County sheriff’s office conducted a search warrant at the residence in Grand Junction a deputy responded to the previous day on a complaint of animal neglect. Liberty Norgart-Jordan, 23, of Grand Junction was arrested for animal abuse*. She was later booked into the jail. One dog was seized and taken for care.

*In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
